Here are some things you can expect your child to learn at PCPS:

  • colors, numbers, and letters
  • calendar skills, like days of the week
  • letter recognition and sounds
  • fine motor skill development, including using scissors and glue
  • early penmanship skills, including writing with a correct pencil grip
  • rhythm and music through singing and dancing
  • early science skills through topics like the weather and nature

While we are a play-based school, that doesn't mean academics take a back seat! At PCPS, children  learn academic skills they'll need for kindergarten.

The teachers and staff at PCPS are united in their belief that all children:

  • Have the power to learn
  • Are curious & creative
  • Can succeed

Every child is unique! The love of learning shines through with the help of our dedicated teachers and parents as they guide the students through a program based on their age, interest, and needs.

Children learn from their environment. We want their world to be filled with wonder and awe as we encourage them and build on their natural strengths. This type of learning environment helps the children grow emotionally, intellectually, socially, and physically at a rate that is most comfortable to them.

We assess our students periodically and use the assessments to tailor instruction for each student's needs. No two students have exactly the same skills or learning style. That’s why we create an individual learning plan for every child. Your plan will combine direct instruction, small-group work, and one-on-one tutoring in a way that works for your student.

Your child will play, create, and imagine while learning early literacy and math skills, along with early social studies and science!
